About the Role
Our client is modernizing a complex B2B SaaS platform used to manage estimates, inventory, scheduling, orders, invoicing, payments, and customer relationships.
The application is moving from ASP.NET/.NET Framework, jQuery, Kendo UI, SQL Server, and stored procedures to React, TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and AWS.
The initial migration will preserve current functionality. The next phase will focus on simplifying complex workflows and improving the overall user experience.
Who We Need
We need a senior product/UX designer with strong experience in complex B2B software and genuine, hands-on use of AI.
This is not a traditional Figma-only role. You must be able to use tools such as Claude Code, Figma AI, Figma Make, or Cursor to turn your own UX ideas into interactive, React-based prototypes.
The ideal candidate is a strong UX thinker who uses AI to work faster and more independently. We are not looking for a frontend developer with limited design experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and simplify complex, data-heavy workflows.
- Uncover undocumented business rules, dependencies, and edge cases.
- Use customer feedback, support data, interviews, and product documentation to guide design decisions.
- Build interactive, React-based prototypes using AI-assisted tools.
- Test prototypes with customers, stakeholders, and engineers.
- Create reusable UX patterns and design-system components.
- Document workflows, validations, permissions, states, and errors for engineers and AI coding agents.
- Review AI-generated output and correct missing, inaccurate, or unsafe behavior.
- Prioritize the highest-impact improvements within a part-time schedule.
Required Experience
- Senior-level product or UX design experience with complex B2B SaaS, ERP, CRM, field-service, or operational software.
- Proven experience modernizing an established or legacy product.
- Strong workflow analysis, interaction design, UX research, and product judgment.
- Extensive professional use of AI for research, design, prototyping, or implementation.
- Ability to build functional or coded prototypes using AI-assisted tools.
- Portfolio examples demonstrating AI-assisted design work.
- Experience with design systems and reusable component patterns.
- Enough knowledge of React, frontend architecture, and APIs to create realistic prototypes and work effectively with engineers.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results within approximately 20 hours per week.
Preferred Experience
- Claude Code, Figma AI, Figma Make, Cursor, or similar tools.
- React-based legacy modernization.
- Estimating, inventory, scheduling, invoicing, payments, construction, or field-service workflows.
- Accessibility, responsive design, and incremental product rollouts.
What Success Looks Like
- The designer independently turns UX ideas into interactive prototypes that stakeholders and customers can evaluate.
- AI significantly shortens the time from discovery to a tested, buildable experience.
- Complex operational workflows become simpler and easier to use without losing essential functionality.
- Engineers and AI coding agents can implement designs with minimal clarification or rework.
- Undocumented rules and edge cases are identified before they cause regressions.
- Reusable design patterns improve consistency and delivery speed across the product.
- The designer demonstrates genuine, continually evolving use of AI—not occasional or surface-level experimentation.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is first and foremost an experienced product and UX designer. You understand complex business workflows, make sound design decisions, and know how to simplify a product without oversimplifying the business it supports.
You also use AI extensively as part of your daily work. You can move from discovery to an interactive, React-based prototype without relying on an engineer for every iteration. You know how to guide AI, evaluate its output, correct its mistakes, and use it to deliver considerably more than a traditional design process would allow.
If your work is primarily limited to static Figma mockups, or if you have not used AI extensively in professional design work, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.
